I solved Sophia's going to bed problems. Turns out she is done taking naps. On one hand it's really sad because I don't get a nice little "lunch break" everyday. But then again, on the other hand, it's nice because now she goes to bed nice and early, usually around 6:30 or so, and then since that is also the time that Jane goes down, I have the evening to myself.
Personally, I think she is a bit young to give up napping, but before, she was taking a nap and sleeping for about 2 hours, then, she wouldn't fall asleep at night until almost 10pm. No good. When I dropped the nap...asleep before 7pm no problem. I even did a few tests where put her down for a nap again a few times, and each time she couldn't go to sleep that night. It's hard though, because even though it appears giving her a nap set her up for disaster at night, she still gets tired during most days.
Unfortunately, we haven't solved her getting up at night problems. She usually still wakes up around 2 or 3 times. Sometimes it's her diabetes that wakes her up. A low blood sugar here, a high one there. I am not a nice mom when I have to get up in the middle of the night. It's something I need to work on, or at least ride out.

I dont know how you do it! You are my hero!
I was totally bummed to lose David's nap, too. But the earlier bedtime is always a boon! Good luck with it.
Well, at least you have a nice long evening to yourself! But that must be really hard getting up so often during the night still - have you talked to your pediatrician about that? Maybe there is something you could give her to eat or drink before bed to prevent that?
And yes, I have a food blog too! Here's the URL:

I loved reading this. Did you notice how you use the scientific method to decide Sophia's nap times? She doesn't know what she's up against.
