Shutters and Shades

Silly me, just when I typing in the title, I typed "Shutters and Shiz", weird. Anyhoo. The blind guy came over today, (enough with the jokes boyfriend), to do the final measurements of all our windows. We are going with a combination of shutters and shades. We're getting shutters in most of the windows on the main level, except for the doors leading out to the backyard, and little window that's high up in our bedroom. Then upstairs, (3 bedrooms and a playroom) we are getting white blackout honeycomb shades. They look white, but then on the inside they have this stuff that looks like foil that blocks out light. They had betta be good or else because the whole reason we decided to pay more for them is so that they will block out light for our little tiny's while they are napping and also for these lovely summer months where it doesn't get dark for forever late. We also went with the cordless because I don't want to have to worry about the babuses strangling themselves. I'm abit of a paranoid freak when it comes to that sort of thing.

The shutters are also cordless, but all plantation shutters are. I just love the look of them. I've been dreaming about them for forever and ever and now in just 4-6 weeks my dream will come true! I picked out the color today, you would be surprised at how many shades of white their are. Here are some pictures of both for your viewing pleasures.

Obviously, not rooms in my house, but that is generally what the windows will look like. Oh, well, except that we didn't get the kind of shades that come down from the top, just ones that go up, but that's what they will look like. You will notice that the shades don't really open like blinds, they just go up and down which is find because I only really want to put them down at night for privacy, and then keep them open all day. On the flipside the shutters don't go up and down, just open and close.
