In our attempt to resolve Sophia's sleep issues, we ended up putting a lock on her door so that we could just lock the door from the outside. It turns out that it wasn't really necessary because we figured out how to keep her in her bed and in her room. We just leave the door open about 1/2 a foot and ta da! She stays put, goes right to sleep and we don't see her until the morning! Funny how that works. We still kept the lock on there though, partly because we are lazy and haven't bothered to take it off, and probably partly so that we can still threaten to lock it if she doesn't stay in her bed even with the door open at her request.
Today, Sophia, Jane and I were hanging out in Sophia's room when Sophia walks over to where I am sitting on the floor with Jane and says, "uh oh, I think the doors locked." Excuse me. Sure enough, I go and check and we are locked in her room. Jeff is at work and my phone is in the front room. After a little unsuccessful brainstorming and some MacGyverish attempts to fashion something useless into something useful to open the door, I decide that I'm just going to climb out the window and get to a phone. Luckily for me, we are on the first floor. Unluckily for me I was in my pajamas, no socks and shoes, and worst of all, (all you ladies out there), no bra.
Out the window I went an boy was it cold! My feet were freezing within seconds off getting on the ground. I made my way around to the front of our apartment complex and knocked on someones door. They had a phone I could use and I was able to call Jeff. I felt bad since he is really busy at work, plus study for his bar exam he has in 2 weeks, but he thought it was kind of funny and headed home to save us. I went and climbed back in through the window and we waited for Jeff. Sophia kept on saying, "oh my peas!" because that is what Princess Pea, a character on a show she likes, always says when something is wrong.
Finally Jeff came and saved us. It actually worked out well because he hadn't seen either of the girls since Sunday because he is gone before they wake up in the morning and he doesn't get home until long after they are in bed.
